I’m a Jersey born, self-employed accountant, husband, father of two.
When not working, my interests include magic, karate, baking, skateboarding, playing music, writing and performing stand-up comedy. The last of those came about due to my first experience with JET, as I took part in their first White Collar Comedy Challenge in 2026.
My experience with mental illness started decades earlier. However, it took a severe mental breakdown in 2017 for me to finally be diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder and Severe Depression.
I ended up taking more than a year away from work to focus on treatment. But my return to the office was not a smooth one. Although perceptions of mental health and mental illness have improved in recent years, I still feel they’re widely misunderstood by both employers and those experiencing them. Looking back, if I had known a place like JET existed, I believe they could have supported my return and made the process far easier for everyone involved.
Perceptions are moving in the right direction, but we’re not there yet. That’s why I wanted to become a JET Ambassador: to show others living with mental illness that recovery is possible and to help raise awareness of the vital work JET does. Their support is crucial in helping people with disabilities recognise that they can be a valued and capable part of the workforce, just like anyone else.
