Our Training & Development Service offers individuals with a disability or long-term health condition the chance to engage in a variety of projects, training and volunteering opportunities at our Acorn site in Trinity and within the wider community.
We have three business areas within Acorn: Acorn Reuse, Acorn Nursery and the Acorn Woodshack. We use these working environments to provide work experiences, specific training programmes and a range of voluntary group projects.
Our Acorn group projects are focused on developing a client's employment skills within a safe and supportive work environment. They will learn new vocational skills as well as teamwork and time management, whilst building their confidence and self-esteem.
Everything produced in our projects is then sold in our Acorn shop and the money made is invested back into the charity to create more exciting client opportunities.
Our aim is to encourage clients to move onto our Community Volunteering or Employment Services team to further their career development.
