The Jersey Employment Trust is a registered charity, set up in 2002. We are facing an increasing demand for our services. We would be pleased to discuss any way that you can help us so that we can support more people to reach their full potential.
If you are interested in supporting JET, here are some ways in which you could get involved.
Fundraising
- Pledge financial support to help more people with a disability or long-term health condition into training or employment.
- Choose JET or Acorn Enterprises as your nominated charity for a month/year.
- Nominate JET or Acorn Enterprises for payroll giving.
- Organise events on our behalf.
- Sponsor an internship or specialist equipment.
Sponsor an Internship
Some people need a little longer to demonstrate their potential. Internships provide a paid work experience opportunity and particularly suit our clients who often have the ability to do the job but might struggle to get through traditional recruitment processes such as interviews and assessments. In the four years that we have been offering internships, we have had a 75% success rate in the client securing the job. The average cost of a three-month internship is £2,500.
Training Needs
Some of our clients need additional training to help towards their employment goals, such as health and safety, manual handling, first aid or food hygiene. We always need a pot of money to cover the costs of training courses.
CSR
Acorn Enterprises is the trading arm of JET. If disability, training and employment are drivers for you, if your company is aligned with environmental values, if you want to support one of Jersey’s biggest social enterprises, then Acorn is for you. We welcome individuals or teams of volunteers to spend a day or half-day with us. You might spend time planting pumpkins, helping to take donated items from members of the public, or pricing and sorting stock ready for the shop floor. There is always something going on. We are happy to share activities on Acorn’s busy Facebook page and Instagram, giving you great exposure for your business.
A Gift in your Will
Would you like to support our work into the future? All donations are reinvested into helping people with a disability or long-term health condition. We hope that once you have provided for your nearest and dearest, you will consider leaving a gift to us. Anyone can leave a gift in their will and every gift, large or small, is very important to us.
It might be:
- Part or all of your estate.
- A specified cash sum which can be index-linked to safeguard its value.
- An item, such as property or a piece of jewellery, to be used or sold by us.
Please note that making a will should be done with the guidance of a lawyer.
Are you a Jersey Taxpayer?
If you are donating £50 or more and you are a Jersey taxpayer, we can claim an additional 25p for every £1 you donate. All you have to do is complete a lump sum donation form and return it to us.
