Positions at JET and Acorn

Acorn Supervisor (Clothing Team)

We are seeking an experienced retail professional with strong knowledge of clothing brands and designer labels to supervise our busy clothing department. The Acorn Supervisor (Clothing) will support the Pricing Team Leader in the day‑to‑day running of the area, ensuring high standards of organisation, presentation, and customer service.

In this hands‑on role, you will oversee the sorting, pricing, and replenishment of donated clothing, shoes, and accessories—making confident decisions on suitability for sale and identifying higher‑value or designer items. You’ll help maintain an attractive, well‑stocked shop floor and handle customer pricing enquiries, while creating a positive working environment for staff, volunteers, and clients.

This is a physical role, requiring regular handling of large bags of donated clothing, as well as moving trolleys and cages around the work area and shop floor.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous retail experience, ideally in clothing or charity retail
  • Excellent brand and designer clothing awareness to support accurate pricing and stock decisions
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to lead, support, and train others
  • A flexible, positive attitude and willingness to work in a physical, fast‑paced environment

This is a 35‑hour per week contract (including Saturdays) with a focus on delivering great customer experience and ensuring the smooth running of the clothing area.

The salary is £17.17 per hour and company benefits include a non-contributory pension, option to purchase additional annual leave & discounted membership for local amenities.

Closing date is 3pm on Tuesday 14th April 2026.

Acorn General Assistant (Pricing Team)

We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic General Assistant to join the Acorn Reuse pricing team. This varied, hands‑on role supports the day‑to‑day running of the site, including sorting and pricing donated items, and restocking the shop floor.

This is a physically demanding position, involving the regular lifting and moving of heavy and bulky items, including bags and boxes of donated goods and occasional pieces of furniture around the work area and shop floor. You may also help with loading and unloading customer vehicles and Acorn vans. Full training and lifting aids are provided.

A key part of the role involves interacting with customers, so you must be confident, approachable, and able to provide friendly, helpful service across all areas of Acorn. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and clients with disabilities are essential.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Good practical skills and an organised, hands‑on approach
  • Confidence and friendliness when engaging with customers
  • The physical ability to lift and move bulky items safely
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A flexible, positive attitude and willingness to support different areas as needed

This is a 30–35 hour role (Monday–Saturday), offering variety, teamwork, and a chance to contribute to the meaningful work of Acorn Reuse. We also welcome applications from those looking to return to work, and this role could be offered as a job share. Hours may be adapted to suit a parent returner who requires flexibility around school or childcare commitments.

The salary is £13.59 per hour and company benefits include a non-contributory pension, option to purchase additional annual leave & discounted membership for local amenities.
