Our Acorn Training & Development group workshops are focused on developing a client's employment skills within a safe and supportive environment. They will learn new skills related to the workshop they are doing, for example, training in using different machinery, instruction in using a sewing machine, painting and waxing techniques or horticulture and plant care.
Within our workshops and training sessions clients will set their own individualised employment-focused goals and develop a variety of new skills, including teamwork and time management, whilst building their confidence and self-esteem.
Once clients have demonstrated their employment skills, we encourage them to move onto our Community Volunteering Team where they will be supported to undertake a bespoke voluntary placement, with a view to becoming an independent volunteer or progressing onto the Employment Service.
Everything produced by our clients within our workshop sessions is then sold in Acorn Reuse and the money made is invested back into the charity to create more exciting training and development opportunities for them.
